The Latvian Adult Education Association [LAEA} is a non-governmental organisation; its members are Regional Adult Education centres, Folk high schools, NGOs, commercial and in-service training centres, District education authorities, trade unions and other adult education organisations. LAEA works in the following areas: creation and development of an adult education and lifelong learning system in Latvia, methodological and information support for adult education providers, training and integration of youth and adults into the labour market, civic education, education for less advantaged groups and their integration into the society, promotion of cooperation between Latvian adult education providers on local, national and European level, ensuring quality of adult education. It has participated in many European programmes including both the Leonardo and Socrates initiatives. These included a focus on the social integration and exclusion of youths and young adults, and the development of transferable education programme and modules within adult education. Its role in this project will be to use its contacts as part of the valorisation process to ensure that materials developed meet the target group’s needs. It will also assist in the content production to ensure that the meets the Latvian linguistic and cultural requirements and then in the piloting with potential migrant workers. Dissemination of the project’s results will also be a key function.
